I am having a hard time with the UCSF supp. worksheet. It says to put the minimum required but my chemistry classes alone (without lab's) fulfill the 2 semester (12 quarter units). I took two labs and was given 1 credit for each as well as an individual grade. Should i include these two labs? or just put the two lecture courses. Also, on the organic section it says that only one semester is required. I figured that i should put both lectures because one doesn't fulfill the 8 quarter units required. But I have the same dilemma with the two labs I took with the course. Leave them off? or put them on?

I know this has sort of been answered, but i didnt really like any of the responses on other threads. It says to not include extra courses, labs, or courses that dont fulfill the req's. Sorry im just confused.

Hi! I would try to just meet the minimum requirements while including everything they ask for. If they ask for labs, include your labs even if you go over the minimum unit requirement because they are specifically asking for it. Otherwise, they wouldn't have mentioned that they wanted labs. For ochem, it should add up to four semester units. If your one ochem course is less than four units, that's fine because you will need to add your units for your ochem lab and then the sum of your 1 semester of ochem + 1 lab should meet the four semester units.
Ochem with lab is 8 quarter units OR 4 semester units

I was having some similar questions, I'm probably going to give them a call tomorrow. For instance, when you click on the Admissions Requirements it brings up the list of everything you need from bio to psychology and foreign languages/ humanities, etc. Yet there are no tabs for these types of classes in the supplemental app. Does that mean that although they are considered "minimum requirements" according to their own website, they only really want the English Comp, Gen Chem, Orgo, Bio, Physics, Biochem and Psychology classes listed? Because those are the only ones with actual pull down tabs in the supplemental app. It's a bit unclear isn't it....

Yes. I went by their "pre-reqs worksheet" pdf that they have listed on the UCSF Supplemental App website. I was in a quarter system as an undergrad so everything worked out fine by just filling out that worksheet. I had 15 classes listed for pre-reqs in the end.

This is from my personal experience, but... if you guys need to contact them try emailing instead of calling. (I called and left messages but they didn't really respond to me. I emailed them and within hours they called back.. the lady said she was responding to my email)

Good luck everybody.

Thanks, that makes sense. I actually printed out the worksheet as well and once I had it in front of me it seemed to simplify things a bit.

I need help on a specific question for this supplemental. So everything has been completed except for the organic chemistry courses. My school doesn't do lecture and lab together. They are offered as separate classes but they don't add up to 8 quarter units. Organic 1 is only worth 3 semester unit (4.5q.u.) and Organic 1 Lab is worth 1 semester units (1.5 q.u.) on the UCSF website it says that 4 semester units of organic is required. So the semester units are satisfied if i just put those two in. However.. the quarter units required are 8.. it doesn't make sense because even with a 4 credit class and 1 credit lab you still wouldnt reach eight quarter units. Just not sure what to do about this. I can add both organic chem's and lab for a total of 12 quarter units... or I can just add organic 1 and organic 1 lab and then add just organic 2 lecture which would give me 10.5.. I want to keep it at the minimum.. but just dont really know what to do to make them happy and i dont want to wait to email them. Also, if i retook chem 1 do i have to include both the first class and the retake in the gen chem section? Sorry if this is scatter brained, any advice would help.

Just put 4 semester units down that include your 3 units of lecture and 3 units of lab. They say 8 quarter units for those who are in a quarter system. The reason for this is because 1 semester is equivalent to 1/2 a year of school. 1 quarter is 1/3 of the school year. Someone in the quarter system (like myself) would need to take 1 1/2 quarters to learn the same amount of material in 1 semester. Don't worry too much about it. You just need 4 semester units and it's ok if your lecture and lab are separate and not combined in one class. As far as the retake, don't put the same course down twice. It's like you're saying that you getting twice as much credit for 1 class than if you took the class once. It wouldn't make sense. Good luck!
