I interviewed at UCSF's program in early january but I haven't heard anything. Has anyone received formal feedback of any sort (ie phone calls, emails)? I can't tell if they're not interested in me or if that's standard practice for them. thanks a lot.

When my friend interviewed there last year, the PD stated that they assign one faculty member (one of your interviewers) to get back to you with feedback after your interview. Dunno if their policy has changed or not.

-AT.

UCSF has a new PD this year, so the policy may have changed.

One of my interviewers called me about a week or two after my interview, which was in November. At my interview they said they try to do it for everyone, but they may be pretty busy this time of year. I haven't heard anything since then.

thank you for your replies. I can't figure out what's going on behind the scenes this year but I won't be holding my breath...

Not trying to downhearten in the slightest - not at all, but just saying, cause if it were me asking, I'd really want to know what was going on - but I do know that this year they have called and offered people to come back for a 2nd look visit and payed for the hotel expenses, maybe airfare too.

Thanks, Lauraaa, for the feedback. I kind of figured something of the sort. It seems to me -- based on anecode -- that they're somewhat more favorable of strong basic science candidates this year. Oh well; I guess it's called the "match" for a reason...

UCSF called me a couple of weeks after my interview, and said they were interested, but apparently not enough to offer me a hotel room!
