UCSF high priority

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
hey booyah.

i got placed on the high priority list as well (i think i got the letter 2 weeks ago). from the letter and from what people have said we have to wait until around may before we find out anything. at that time they will either accept, reject or rank us on a waitlist. Last year people got accepted early May once the admissions office had a better idea of openings. Also in May they will tell you if you are in the top or bottom half of the waitlist. Those on the top half of the waitlist have a very very good chance of getting in. So bottom line is that we have MORE waiting to go through. pretty torturous huh?

good luck! =)

I was there yesterday for an interview. People that get put onto that list won't be hearing anything until UCSF has finished interviewing and had heard back from most of the people they accepted. Given that they still have a bunch of interviews left, plus the fact that it takes them a while to make the decisions, and then mail the decisions, and then hear back from the people they accepted.... You're probably looking at a couple of months.

But at least you're on the list. It could be worse.

well May 15 is the deadline for candidates to choose one med school. So by May 15, UCSF will know how many people have accepted their offer and at that point they will accept, reject and waitlist people from the high priority group. Then after this, as people are pulled of the waitlist at other schools and they withdraw from UCSF people are accepted of the waitlist.

I am on the list as of 2/22. My friend is a 1st year at UCSF and he says that last year they began accepting people off of the high priority list about May 20-25 or so (this is when he got in). They continue to accept more people off the list until just before school starts. He also says that if you are waitlisted, but placed in the top third (and they will tell you where you place in your letter), then you can expect to get in at some point before school starts.
Good luck!

All the info has been correct except for one thing: they will NOT tell you what your exact ranking is in the letter or if you call on the phone. That 1/3 stuff is definitely true for UVM, but usually for UCSF it is the top or bottom half of the list; those in the top half have a great chance of getting in. Hope that helps. Good luck!

You're right, its 1/2 not 1/3. Thanks Becky

Becky,

check your email. i emailed you a question. thanks 🙂

you guys! My application has been complete for about a month and a few days. I still do not know anything. When did you guys found out about your interview after sending in your secondary? And how were you contacted (email, letter, phone call)? thanks.
