I've been offered an apartment at UCSF's Aldea Housing (on Mount Sutro). Other than the information on the UCSF Housing Website, I've been having a hard time finding additional information (via google).

1. I found some mention of demolition/renovation of certain buildings since 2000 and the demolition of a couple of buildings to be postponed. Does anyone know anything about this?

2. How are the apartment conditions/area?

3. Since Aldea is on top of a hill in a woody area, is there any problem with cell phone reception? I would check myself but I don't live in the Bay Area.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I lived at Aldea for couple of years and really liked it. As far as reception, I didn't experience any issues with AT&T network in my apartment however I have heard that some students did not get the best reception (not sure about their carrier).

Shal, thank you for the info.

Is the uphill/downhill walk bad? I plan to mainly take the shuttle but there will probably be some days where I feel like walking. Also, is there a path that allows you to bypass some of the surface streets and provide a more direct path to Stanyan Street?
