Hey everyone, I just got back from UCSF interview and i must say i was very surprised. The school is amazing from the research opportunities to the clinic everything seemed to surpass my expectations. Also there is a myth out there that UCSF focuses a lot on research....this is not true!!!! Research isnt even mandatory, however, they have the most vast research opportunities for their students. So you can focus on clinical dentistry or if you want you can contribute to research....but again its not mandatory as people have been saying.

good luck everyone

i dunno anything about then running out of spots. In regards to the student and faculty interviews the student interview was really chill, but dont be fooled and dont let ur guard down because the student does have a say in the admissions process, but dont stress about it just be yourself. For the faculty interview its pretty laid back except they ask you like 2 questions that make sure you can not study or prepare for the interview. You know how some people have prepared answers to questions....yea thats what i mean.

I never prepare for any of my interviews because i think you come up with better answers that dont sound generic. But thats just me...

did you have hard time in writing the short essay??? Is it so hard as people say?

The essay was not that bad as people say...just start writing and you will be alright...

What short essay are you talking about?

was the interview essay typed or handwritten?

I also had my interview at UCSF and I have to say that I agree to everything he said, but for most people, the faculty interview was the hardest part. Typically, most interviewers asked about 3-5 questions, while at my interview at UCSF, others as well as myself were asked 15-20 questions. Also, they asked very detailed questions about your research and anything you might say on your previous answer. The writing sample has something some relevance to what Dean Featherstone says during his presentation, so make sure you pay attention.

the essay was hard. i didnt think of Dr. Featherstone's presentation. O well. I hope my interview went smoothly. I found the student interview to be the hardest. Lots of out of the blue questions but mostly about u. it caught me off guard. Now i must pray for an acceptance on dec 1st or after. good luck all

I thought essay was pretty hard as well 🙁 But then I am a horrible writer to begin with. Uggh
