hey guys,

so i guess i have come across alot of applicants who were accept to the MD/MS program between UCSF and Berkely and rejected to the regular MD program. it seems to me that the joint degree program would be harder to get into. can anyone comment on this? thanks.

I have a friend who is currently in the UCSF JMP and I've met a couple of other students in the program as well. I'm not sure how admissions to JMP works exactly but I believe that it is just as difficult as the regular md program. I can tell you that the people I know in the JMP had stats above the averages for accepted regular md folks.

so it's possible to get into JMP but not regular MD? I assumed that all JMPers were accepted into both and had the choice

I believe you can be rejected from one and accepted into the other. Or you can be accepted at both and choose one.

I know someone who was rejected to regular MD, but accepted to the JMP.

yeah there were quite a few on md applicants and i noticed a couple on sdn. hmmm...i really am not sure how it works, but i know that it's possible to be rejected from the striaght up md and get the jmp.
