sure.. rub it in why don't you 😡
j/k ... congrats! if it were me I'd choose harvard.. just because of the name...

Yeah, Harvard as an awesome name, but so does UCSF. I'd probably stick with SF since you're a Cali resident and you would end up saving a good $80-100,000 after 4 yrs.

dude!!!!!!!.....UCSF for sure!!!! Although Harvard is a great school....I would totally pick UCSF...it's prestigous, location is great, tuition is way lower compared to Harvard, and plus do you really want to be in dental school for 5 years??????? I didn't think so.....

Well, you know that I have a total hard-on for UCSF and can't wait to start so I'm gonna give you my biased opinion and say UCSF.

Harvard is great, especially if you want to do research but UCSF has research opportunities up the wazzoo as well!

If you are from CA, I'd say it's a pretty easy choice - UCSF. Out of state, I'd say Harvard. You just can't beat the name!

ucsf because you don't want to have to take the boards twice (assuming you want to practice in CA). plus, you can build network amongst cali dentists at ucsf while you can't do that at harvard

When did Harvard become a great dental school?

If you plan to practice at some point in the future and would like something resembling handskills, go to UCSF. If you want your ego stroked everytime a non-dentist asks where you went to school, go to Harvard.

UCSF is a better school than harvard....but harvard is "harvard"...people say "ooooh,, aaaaahh,,"

Just saw this on Wikipedia, of the 54 dental school deans in the United States, sixteen are HSDM alumni (as of 2005). People dig H 😎 . It's sad but reality.

Agreed. Although I'm usually totally against spending extra $$ for dental schools, there are a few schools (more like ONE school) that it actually might be worth the $$ to go to...and if this is in fact true, then Harvard definitely is one of them.

In fact, UCSF's dean, Dr. Charles Bertolami, is a graduate of Harvard's OMFS residency program in 1980 and a recipient of a D.Med.Sci degree from Harvard:

If your goal is full-time private practice, go to UCSF and save your $$.

If your goal is research/teaching/administration, then the decision becomes more difficult. I'd probably go to Harvard and find a way to get the extra loans paid off through some sort of repayment plan (i.e. NIH).
