Assuming COA is the same, which school is better for specializing? I hear UPENN graduates more specialists, but I am hearing from people on here that UCSF has a better reputation. If you had to choose from these two schools, which one would you choose and why?

UCSF has better research

pass/fail curriculum is still better than grade inflation

I agree. I just see people as over the moon with this school and I wonder why? It pumps out less specialists than the ivies as a percentage. I guess everyone has their own opinion.

Come on, dude.. I've seen multiple people explain to you why everyone is over the moon with this school. Not everything is about specialization. Not everyone wants to be an oral surgeon (most don't, actually). UCSF produces well-rounded, talented practitioners who serve their communities and contribute to the field of dentistry with research. If you're bright and work hard (you probably don't even have to be bright), you should be able to specialize at any school. I've seen you post disparaging comments about UCSF, and honestly, it's puzzling. It's a great school. If you don't see it and would rather spend more than half a million dollars to attend Penn or Columbia for a marginally better chance of specializing, that's totally fine, but you're clogging up the forums trying to find people with the same unfounded distaste for UCSF.

OP, I am choosing UCSF over other equally strong programs (UCONN, Columbia, Michigan). Although I have not made a decision, I plan on exploring OMS. If you want details as to how my decision came about, shoot me a message!

Good luck!
