UF Acceptances

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I interviewed there this month and they mentioned that they'd be in touch around mid Feb

Has anyone been accepted off the alternate list? I know I haven't, but I was wondering if the class is full?

i also interviewed this month, and the dean said any decisions wouldn't be made untill around early or mid feb. class is certainly not full.

Ok, I am going to add another question to the mix....does anyone how big the alternate list is? Thanks!🙂

I asked at my interview and they wouldnt say.

good luck guys/

I have to agree with gentexan because I WANNA KNOW ALREADY! Hey, gentexan, when was your interview??? I interviewed in January. I called the admissions office yesterday to ask if they're calling people back for acceptances and the guy who answered told me they started calling people today (feb. 1... congrats, ething, again) but will keep calling people all throughout next week.

UF, call me w/ good news! hehe. :luck:

from what I have heard is that they are not taking anyone off the waitlist until march....i wish I knew what part of march (beginning, mid, end....??) but, yeah thats what i heard, so we still have another month of waiting. Unfortunatly, I am getting used to it.....😛

everyone- it's not the end of the world if you don't get into UF.... i was really anxious/bummed out when i found out that i was on the waitlist. however, after interviewing at other schools i realized that UF is really only attractive in one respect: price. the facilities are nothing special, the faculty was a bit cold, and the students seemed very competitve.

don't get me wrong...if UF would take me off the waitlist today i would be stoked b/c i believe that going to the cheapest dental school is in my best interest. if i don't get into UF then that's fine too....there are many other dental schools that i would be happier at. i think what i'm getting at is that i wish people would stop drinking the UF kool-aid.....there are a lot of people on the waitlist and very very few people will be offered a spot in the class. i was guilty of drinking the UF koolaid at one point, but after putting the glass down, taking a step back, and realizing that whatever happens happens....i have been much more at ease.

good luck everyone! jb!🙂

Thanks for the advice, JB. I apply this upcoming cycle and am all gung-ho about getting into UF as well. I've done my research on the other schools I'm applying to and I've found a few that I will probably like even more than UF. But like you said, UF is cheapest and it's not a hard choice when it comes down to taking out a massive loan and not.

good work jb! im a gator deciding between tufts and nova...

JB, well said! I just got my ALTERNATE letter today, so I am on the waiting list as well. I can be honest and say that one of the best reasons for my wanting to attend UF is the cost first and foremost. The school has some good points about it, but it also comes with some bad aspects, as well (like every school). Whatever happens happens... but it certainly isn't the end of the world! Goodluck, everyone :luck:

but.....what if we like kool-aid....??? 😀 jk, I agree with JB, but at the same time, I LOVED Florida...not just because of the price, but I just felt like I fit in the most there. Anyways, good luck to all, and we will just all have to keep our fingers crossed!!!

DO NOT go to UF. Most students here are filled with resentment and hatred for both the curriculum and some of the faculty. They are all just a bunch of miserable old-school teachers who think the world of themselves. They throw you into clinic without truly teaching good dentistry. If you still have time to back out, do it now before it's too late. Yeah, you save some money going to UF...but is $ really worth feeling like crap for 4 years?

I rather be treated like $hit for 4 years and pay back $900 a month for 30 years than be happy for 4 years and pay back $2200 a month for 30 years

What's with all the UF haters out there? Really!

ufsucks = waiting.list.

ladies and gents, don't be discouraged...UF is a fantastic school and if i wasn't a CA resident, i'd apply there in a heartbeat! 🙂

man you are pathetic

haha that was funny. People really take UF rejection hard.. UFsucks, just go to Nova like you suggested earlier, but don't come crying when are you 260,000 in debt and can't pass the Florida state boards.👍

watever nova has a decent board grad rate as well.

shuna you have the numbers????? show me the stats. I know UF is 100% but do you know what Nova's is?

Nova's isn't bad....it's probably 90-95%.. It really doesn't matter. Study hard and you will pass.... jb!🙂

I'll go ahead and feed the troll by saying that I have also heard from pretty much every student I assisted in the operative clinic at UF that the professors are absent-minded at best, conceited and mean-spirited at worst. There are other problems with the school as well, but this was the first thing everyone brought up when I asked.

Couple this with the fact that I really just don't like Gainesville at all and you'd think I wouldn't mind my rejection. However, as bitter as I may be at their admissions policies, I am sad that UF isn't an option for me and would most likely have gone there in a heartbeat had I been given the chance. Overall it's a great school and it graduates very competent and confident general dentists while providing ample opportunities for research and specialization. Congrats to those who will be attending.

That is REALLY pathetic, considering that I got into every school I applied to--FOUR years ago, INCLUDING UF AND NOVA, and not only am I not on the "waitlist" but I'm about to graduate...DMD in 3 months! Shows how pathetic you are.

I would listen to UF sucks; he is the student currently going throught the UFD experience and offers an insight into the life at UF as a dental student; many of us take his experience for granted, but I am sure he wishes someone told him about what he is going through right now. Thank you UFSucks. Let's give him a hand.
