I have just been admitted into the UF College of Pharmacy's Orlando campus! Can any current students give me pros and cons about attending the Orlando campus? I toured it and the COP is a gorgeous building however it seemed to be in a pretty desolate area. How far do students live from campus? And how far is downtown Orlando? Is there anywhere to eat nearby (didn't see a single restaurant)? And since there isn't a library or gym on campus...where do you study and where do you work out? Additionally, I am unsure if I will enjoy online lectures. Does online lectures keep you from being close with your class? I am very excited to have been admitted and listed the Orlando campus as my first choice since I live in South Florida and have family in Orlando...but when making a final decision as to what school I am going to attend (or if I should petition to be at another campus), it is important to know these things!

Again, congratulations. I replied to your other post but since you asked different questions here, I'll try to answer your questions. The neighborhood is brand new and under construction but there's a lot more stuff now than when I began. Still no restaurants though, unless you count the Nemours cafeteria. Downtown is 25 minutes away by car. Students live scattered all over Orange county. I commute 10 minutes and work out at a nearby gym. You'll have a lot of online lectures but our current 1st year students are on campus every day. I am from South Florida too so the main pro for Orlando was proximity to Miami (3 hrs vs 5 from Gainesville and 6 from Jax). But the second big pro to Orlando is the fact that there are so many hospitals in the area employing our interns. If you're interested in hospital pharmacy, I think Orlando is robust.

Always happy to help. If you happen to pick Orlando, someone in your class should start a Facebook page. It's how I found my current place, and a lot of other stuff.
