Any insights into this program? What did you guys think of it when you interviewed or rotated there? Is it worth rotating there as a 4th year?

I was not able to find any information on UF-gainesville on sdn or aunt minnie. Your thoughts are appreciated!

Didn't apply there, but applied to other Fl programs. From talking to med students in florida it seemed like it was a solid program that's limited by the fact that people don't want to live in gainsville.

Agreed. Interviewed there and felt that Gainesville would be a rough place to live. It's about 100k people but a total college town in every way. I'm not from the South so it wasn't my cup of tea at all. Most of the residents were married and had families.
As far as the program goes, they had a high number of fellows and residents for the size of the hospital/city. I heard rumors of them spending a lot of afternoons reading due to low volume but I couldn't verify this as complete fact.
Overall, I think it's a solid program for the South (Behind Emory and the NC programs if you consider NC the South) but wouldn't be comparable to the many great programs in the North.

Also, they didn't fill last year likely due to the fact that they thought they'd match everyone and they just didn't put in a long enough rank list. I heard several comments about how they "had to start interviewing DOs now" and they "never would have three years ago." That kind of turned me off.

Were you turned off by the fact that they're interviewing DOs, or that they commented on it regretfully? Not a DO myself, just curious.
