There is an essay on there that basically is like "tell more about yourself to the admissions committee" and it gives suggested topics like challenges you have faced, your goals and values, etc. What kinds of things are those of you who are filling out the UF app writing about? I guess my question is does it have to relate to dentistry or could it be about anything?

You can write about ANYTHING your heart desires!! Personally, I actually covered a lot in mine. I spoke a little bit about my life, my goals/dreams and how they developed (which dentistry was mentioned but not the focus), what would make my life "complete", etc...

They just want to give you another opportunity to tell them something more personal about yourself to get to know you better. Plus if there is something else you think they should know about you that you did not get to put in your application, here is your perfect opportunity.

Like mentioned many times, these types of things are used secondary. Most important is your numbers and actual interview, so dont stress too much!!

Good Luck!!

Sorry I must correct you. UFCD is ONLY about numbers. If you don't have them, good luck. They accept many students with high numbers and zero personailty. When they interviewed me, they haven't even read my PS or secondary statement.

UF interviews about 80% of people that apply to meet a state requirement. So its really good luck because its only about a 30% chance of acceptance if you get an interview and without the numbers, well you are trying to walk in a maze in the dark.

Wow, that really suprises me. one of things I really liked about UF was that during my interview they refered back to my personal statements and it made me feel like they actually took the time to go over my things. However, yes you are right.... numbers are the MOST important thing for many dental schools.

Good luck to all you new applicants!! :luck:

Hi. I applied to UF, was wait listed, then accepted. But I decided to go with Nova. I'm replying because I have posted my 2ndary essay that I submitted with UF. You can read it on my blog site www.blue-harmony.com.

Good luck getting into dental school!
