For those that applied....

1.) When Pharmcas mailed your app, how long did it take UF to receive it? (or do you not get an email saying they have received it? Does the status online change from "New" to "Received" or something like that?)

2.) How long did it take UF to contact you with an invite/denial/whatever after they got your Pharmcas stuff?

I submitted to Pharmcas relatively late, like Jan 20-something. They just mailed it on the 18th and I was wondering what kind of time frame I'm looking at. Thx!

UF got my app on jan 18th and didn't hear anything from them..

I had everything in since early September and have not heard a thing. Outlook doesn't look to good. I emailed them about 4 weeks after my supplementals were submitted to check if everything was complete, it is. Hopefully the wait won't be as long for you.

they require ur fall grades. alot of people dont realise that and they usually interview really late thats why theres only like 2 ppl accepted. also i think the minimum pcat this year is 70 sorry, hope u retook in january.

I submitted my supplemental jan 8th and received two emails on feb18th, one was that all my application was received and the other requesting me to immediately take the Toefl exam, cos i'am a foreign born resident and english is not my native language😕.
From what i have read from this site they will send you an interview letter one month to the interview date.I have my eye set on april 25th interview so i would only be worried if i don't get a letter 3 weeks before this date😱

My app was complete in Nov and I had my interview in May. They interview the people with the "best" stats first and then go down the line.

I got my interview invite less than 2 weeks before the date of the interview.

Hi ageldred,
I see your loaction is jacksonville,is that the campus you wil be attending or do you want to go to gainsville. what are you stats if i may ask
toscogo
ha sorry, you are already in P1 going to P2?

I think I was a somewhat unique case. I finished submitting everything to UF in early Oct. I interviewed in early Dec and received my acceptance about 2 weeks later.

I submitted everything by the end of Sept., my interview was Nov 29 and I was accepted Dec. 8th.

I submitted everything in August (and called to make sure everything was complete. I sent fall grades, too. I haven't headr anything from them. Meanwhile I've interviewed with other schools so I know I should have a chance. Oh well!

I submitted PharmCAS Jan 3
It mailed Jan 30
I got the e-mail from UF saying that my application was complete and now I was just waiting for them to evaluate it on Feb 6.

I haven't heard anything about an interview yet🙁

I know of someone who submitted pharmcas around the same as I did, and they have already received an interview invite and it was only about 2 weeks before the date, and their PCAT scores were higher than mine (above 95).

I'm hoping I will get an interview invite soon...

Are you saying that you got 95? Because I don't think the difference between a 95 and 99 would have too much impact...

But anyway, thanks for answering my question. That was the kind of answer I was looking for.

I submitted pharmcas and all my secondaries in september.
I applied to 10 schools, got interviews at 7, still havent heard from 3. One of the 3 is UF...which,as a Fl resident, is my first choice. Now I'm paying $1000 in deposits to another school while waiting to hear from florida. UF is ruining my life. haha

no, my PCAT is 89th composite, a friend of mine has a 96.

So, I got an email today saying that they have my complete application. Hoorah, got that step out of the way.

To continue my timeline,

I got my inteview invitation today (Feb 29) for the April 18th interview in Gville.

Anyone from out of state? How many out of state students does UF take for Gainesville (the only campus I applied)?

Anyone hear back that submitted their application around the Feb. deadline?

Submitted PharmCAS on Jan 28, finished UF's online applications on Jan 29 [both of these things take MUCH longer than I expected & were tough to do after coming home from typing 300-400 scrips at 10-hour workdays...]

PharmCAS mailed out on Feb 22, UF sent me an email on Feb 26th saying my application was received & was complete.

Feb 27th they sent a letter [US mail] saying I have an interview this Friday, March 7th. Got the letter on March 1st.

I have pretty good numbers, might explain the fast review/invite.

Which campus did you apply to? I'm assuming its St. Petersburg?

Yes, st. petersburg. That was my first choice.

One of my lab partners got her interview last Friday - she submitted PharmCAS maybe 4 weeks earlier and had a slightly lower pcat.

As everyone else says, the interview is your chance to prove you can't speak English, or that you can't be respectful, or that you applied to Pharm school for all the wrong reasons. Stay away from those & usually you're fine.

As far as Gainesville campus, they told me at their open house that they can take 130 students but get about 175 requests for that campus. Its usually the only campus that has to put ppl in their 2nd choice, which goes in order of grades and pcat. No matter what, the top 290 to 300 get in, then they divvy up campus choices.

Speaking of numbers...what are yours?

Jan. 27th - Submitted pharmcas
Feb. 18th - Pharmcas mailed it
Feb. 25th - UF receives it
Mar. 4th - I get an invitation for the 18th

woooooooooooo!

I am at the University at Buffalo

I got an invite for the gainesville campus

With at ~4.0 gpa, and a 91 composite on the pcat, would it be worth my while to interview? I am hessitant because I know they do not take many out of staters and also because it would cost a lot to travel to Fl.

Maybe you could call and ask for the stats....# of out of staters offered interviews last year....# that actually came.....and how many were accepted. Everyone pretty much agrees that if you get an invite you will probably be accepted unless you turn out to be a freak. But I don't know if its different for out of state people.

But, you can't really do much better than 4.0, and if you did travel all the way here it would show that you were serious about going to school here.

One question though, why did you apply if you weren't planning on interviewing???

one more thing to think about: the Gainesville campus seems to be in high demand. so them assigning you to it is probably a good sign.

So does UF not consider extra-curricular/volunteer/work experience and essays that much?
Seems like gpa and pcat are pretty much it according to some posters here. If that's the case, it doesnt look too good for me being from out of state and my outside the classroom experiences are whats keeping me competitive (at least I think so). :/

I love UF so i had to apply. I plan to interview. but i didnt want to travel all the way down and spend money if i do not have a more than reasonable chance.

Extracurricular & essay do count, just not nearly as much as pcat & prepharm GPA. Since someone asked, 4.0 prepharm, 97 composite, 18 months working in a pharmacy, 6 years in the military, essay that people like [a lot]

For those that interviewed at Gainesville Feb 29th, any news?

Still waiting here to receive anything.

I just received the packet today. But I live in Gville so you'll probably get it tomorrow or Monday. I'm sure you're fine. I didn't even feel that well about my interview, but they still said yes. I'm so excited, but also stressed about passing Organic 2. Good luck!

Congratulations Marie! They are fast at responding. Can't wait until my interview next week

Yeah, I have Portmess....I think thats pretty weird that two orgo teachers at the same school are married! Our test 2 was also pretty tough. Avg was around 60, but he gives us a lot of e.c. with pop quizzes!
