Hello everyone! I am currently a senior in high school who has decided to attend UF in state over UVa, Northeastern, UMiami, Georgia Tech, and Berkeley mostly because of the costs. First of all, I would like to say that I will consider the University of South Carolina as a transfer opportunity (I called and was told that I could get in-state tuition there with my stats assuming I do well for my first semester or year at my undergraduate institution). I absolutely loved the honors college when I visited this semester. It had everything I was looking for in an education. However, some of my friends think it is dumb that I'll consider transferring to a less prestigious school. There are personal reasons that I do not like UF as much as I thought I would. While I'm willing to give UF a shot, will I be disadvantaged for transferring to South Carolina for the medical school admissions process? I will definitely try my best to get a 3.85+ GPA and good MCAT score no matter where I go. Unfortunately, I hurt myself a bit by getting three B's in dual-enrollment classes (they were in genetics, UNIX, and a grad-level chem course) at a top 100 college here mostly because of family stability. I did get A's in Orgo 1, Differential Equations, and P-chem 1 though. Nonetheless, I will put in my best effort into college.
