UFC 116: for the Heavyweight Title...Lesnar vs. Carwin

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is a tough one to call. I personally like Carwin, just because he's the underdog is this fight, kinda tend to go for underdogs especially with a guy his caliber. But, Lesnar is a beast, I can't see him get knocked out. Having said that, if he was to get knocked out, Carwin would be the man to do.

Any idea if there was a UFC Primetime for these two fighters? I would like to see their training and vigor just to pick an educated guess. I knew Rashad would dominate Rampage after I saw the previous one.

For fight fans, this is definitely a great fight. Who do you like for the fight DreamMachine?

Yeah Carwin is a solid contender. He smashed through Mir and Gonzaga, lets hope he can run through Lesnar.

Man, this fight is going to be awesome. I had started a Jiu-Jitsu club in undergrad, we used to always get the whole club together (early 2000s) and watch these - fun as hell. Now all of my friends are, well, lets just say "less than interested" in the fights. I was hoping that it would get better as the UFC gained popularity, but I guess all of my friends are just pu$$ies.

Needless to say, I've had a hard time getting a big group together to watch the fights, and I can't justify the cost to order it for my wife and I. I have made it to BWW a couple of times to watch them, but they are always so damn crowded. You have to get there so early by the time that the fights start, I've spent as much in booze and food as I would have just ordering the PPV! :meanie:

Has anybody done the movie theater experience with the live PPV? Some of the theaters here in Kansas City have started showing the PPV live on the big screen. A bit expensive, but I bet it is fun.

Prediction? Carwin by decision.

I'll read about it on Sherdog Suday.

I want Brock to go down. Dude is kind of a douchebag. :meanie:

Carwin is more mellow, cool dude with more in his pockets than just big fists.

I hope he takes it. :xf:

3 more hours to go !!

I'm actually pretty excited to watch the Leben vs "sexyama" fight as well, should be a war. The other fights should be decent too, but the main event is huge.

Wheres everyone going to watch the fight? Ordering it? Free stream haha? I think I'm going to hit up green turtle near my house and catch a few beers. I saw the machida vs shogun 2 fight there and it was definitely an experience. A whole lot of fight fans in one area is always a good time.

Once again, I have NO IDEA how tonight is going to turn out. Lets hope Carwin rocks it, and Brock gets rocked! 👍

Good first fight, Sotiropolous took it to him, I was pulling for the American, but nice way to open the fighting. Kurt almost knocked Sot out at the bell for third round...saved by the bell!

2nd fight, I didn't know Bonnar had it in him at the start of that fight. Now THAT is why I watch UFC fighting! FUN fight to watch.

Damn, lesnar can take a punch(es). Gg.

Just got back from the sports bar and all I can is :Wow, that was a great event.

Even though Carwin lost, the first round was sick, those punches HAD to hurt. Brock was really good and his recovery was commendable. Great ground game performance by the champ. Thank god he didn't act like a super douche, Dana white has him in his palm haha. Props to Brock Lesnar though, he persevered and ended the fight with a great move. One things for certain, Lesnar CANNOT stand and bang with Carwin, but then again, this isn't boxing. Great fight nonetheless.

Leben vs Akiyama: GREAT! Bad ass match up and both guys were going at it. Both these guys were dazzed and were beat up BAD.

Overall, great fight night for fight and non-fight fans. Hope you guys got a chance to watch it.

Silva vs Sonnen next. I hope Silva goes down, but hes too damn good. He needs to drop weight and fight GSP, or move up and fight Shogun.

Carwin murdered Brock in the first round, I was shocked at how quickly Brock turtled (and I don't mean that in the Royce Gracie school of defensive posturing until I defeat you). Man, I don't think his chin is that impressive at all. Granted, Carwin is a mammoth, but Brock should be able to do a bit better against a man whose waist is as thick as his own neck!!! (joke credit to JETPP)!

Carwin just got sooo tired.

Anyway, I wish all UFC cards were this amazing!

And now, an altogether different sporting event, WIMBLEDON final! Nadal v Someotherguy. I think Someotherguy is going to have his hands full...

The Leben fight and Lytle's reverse-triangle/straight-armbar combo were pretty good also.

Lesnar got what he had coming to him. Anderson Silva is next.

Top 100 fights has been going on for a couple of hours. Still have 40 to go and then fight night. :corny:
