The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta is part of the University of Georgia system.

No its a part of the University System of Georgia. In other words its one of the public schools of Georgia just like Tech, N. Georgia, etc, but is a separate entitiy from the University of Georgia.

Thanks for sharing. Did you look that up on the internet?

If you're going to ask a question that shows a fair degree of ignorance, you shouldn't give other people grief when they correct your false assumption. Most if not all of the public colleges and universities in GA are part of the University System of Georgia, meaning that they asnwer to the GA Board of Regents, and get part of their funding from the same. Why someone who paid half attention while going through a GA university would need to look it up on the internet is beyond me.

Or was your snarky response your way of covering your embarrassment at being wrong?

Ouch. But I agree with Church. If you go to UGA I think you should know about the University System of GA.

I call the medical school that I attend UGA. Many of my collegues do as well. If that offends you, you have issues. You appear to be rather anal retentive. I probably would be too if I lived in Waynesboro. 🙂

I do know about the university system of georgia. That is why the medical school of georgia can be called UGA.

I guess it can...but everyone I know calls it MCG.

Not REALLY anal retentive... just reading you being a jerk to someone, and calling you on it. If you want to be insulting you're going to have to do better than that. 😴 Really. No, don't insult Waynesboro! Oh, God, the humanity! He insulted the particular armpit of the country that I live in!! Hard to believe someone that immature is in the going-to-be-a-doctor pipeline.

And no, it's not UGA medical school. By your reasoning, every school in the state that falls within the university system of Georgia is UGA, including the trade school that UGAers seem to have such an issue with.

Why don't your ride out on the broomstick you rode in on? I asked if anybody went to the medical school in Augusta. If you don't go to the college, don't respond on my thread.

How many people do you know actually attend MCG. I'm guessing zero. 🙂

I attended college in NC. I know 5 current students or recent alums and have a friend in my med school class who is trying to transfer there. All of whom respond with the name "Medical College of Georgia" when asked "Where do you go to school?" (or, in the one case, "Where do you want to transfer?").

Thanks, it's CRUCIAL that I refer to the medical school as "Medical College of Georgia". I don't want to confuse anybody out there, especially a So Cute MD.

captainamerica,

what exactly is it that you wanted to know about mcg? i'm sure there was an initial reason behind asking if anybody went there.

i am a uga grad from 10 years ago, and will be starting mcg in a couple of weeks. seeing as i haven't even started yet, i probably don't know much, but as an older non-trad, i have quite a few friends who went to mcg or emory for med school.

I didn't say it was "crucial." I said:

You then got snarky and asked how many students I knew at MCG.

You have serious issues dude, I hope you are working on them.

"Captain"... you didn't ask who went to school in Augusta. You asked:

>>Anybody here in med school at the university of Georgia  ? I just finished up my second year.<<

So don't get all pouty on the rest of us when no one knows what the hell you're talking about. Funny thing is, none of the faculty I know there call it UGA medical school. Maybe before you open your mouth again and further embarrass yourself, you might consider that there are other people who know something about your school. Grow up please.

See, I turn my head for 8 hours and there's like 10 posts already.

Captain, help out an old-fart understand your original post. So you finished your 2nd year of medical school at MCG or your Sophomore year at UGA? If you just finished your 2nd year at MCG than you should have started 3rd year by now. Regardless, did you have a question for those that do go to MCG?

This thread is more interesting than studying for Step 2. Alright, back to epidemiology :barf:

I got my BSN from MCG and am currently in the DNP program there. I have never heard it referred to by UGA.

Ok I'm currently a 3rd year at mcg. I've never heard a single person call MCG, UGA because its not UGA. I think thats pretty clear. You can continue to argue with people who know better than you or you can ask those of us who do attend there what your original question was. That was the point of this post I believe, unless it was to cause an argument in which case it has been successful.

Troll troll troll! In other news though, I have heard that there is talk about opening another medical school at the UGA campus in Athens. I dont know if it is credible of not, I have just heard.

This is a prime example of how things can sometimes get out of control on this forum. Is is really important what the name of the school is.
I went to UGA (undergrad in Athens) and am now in med school at UT in Memphis. When I graduated I also heard a rumor about the state openning up another Med school in Athens. I think that it would be a great idea, as
Athens is one of the best cities in the world in my opinion. My only question would be, would they use Athens regional, St. Mary's, or build their own hospital somewhere in the city?

A new private MD school is opening in Savannah but not Athens.

FYI, the OP is likely a new incarnation of someone who has been repeatedly banned on these forums. If that's the case, he's not really a medical student at all (and apparently can't even come up with a real med school in which to claim attendance). My guess is that he's just doing a very poor job of distancing himself from his previous personas.

Typical UGA nonsense. Don't think an MD will ever overshadow the fact that you're a UGA grad. (Generic post).

Agreed. That is probably why I can't read any of the OP's previous posts.
