Well, I just finished the DAT, first time ever and... it was bad...

PAT 17 - (42.4) Not great..
QR 14!!!!!! Not good...at all.
RC - 22 (93.2)
Bio - 20 (91.8)
GC - 21 (91.6)
OC - 18 (64.2)
TS: 20 (91.3)
AA: 19 (85.4)

What should I do? Everything except the 14 is not too bad. I have a 3.7/3.7 uGPA, research, volunteering, lots of EC's. Should I apply, and retake? I had serious issues with the calculator, it would constantly give me undefined as the answer and I had to repeat calculations numerous times. I think the mouse was slower than I needed it to be. Anyway, no excuses, I sucked on that section.

Thanks for the help!

Hmm.. I had a 16 PAT and 15 QR and I got an interview with my state school but did not get accepted. My other scores were very close to yours. I am retaking in a few days. I would apply and then retake in 3 months.

I think I should re-take as well, I don't want to spend all the money for applying and then not make it... what did you use the second time around to try and bring up PAT and QR?

You need to talk to schools. Many of them couldn't care less about QR, PAT isn't where you'd want it to be for schools that place an emphasis, but 17-18 is safe since you're beyond cutoffs. Good luck, I am sure there are schools which don't much care for QR and not too picky about PAT.

Don't just assume you need a retake. That isn't to say you shouldn't retake, but so long as you can find a bunch of schools where you stand a good chance, you might want to apply anyway and promise a re-take for later.

I would consider a re-take for you. You can get away at some schools with your scores, but the general rule is a 16 or 17 for each subsection is the cut-off point. Your QR might prevent you from even applying to some schools. I would re-take and bring up your QR and PAT scores. That will increase your chances significantly. Good luck!

I used Crack PAT and brought it up to an 18. I was hoping to do better than that actually because I did not score below a 20 on the last 5 practice tests but I was glad I improved. I used math destroyer and brought QR up to a 19.
