Well, I have just found out that I have been accepted to both of these schools....Now decision time. I really like both of the schools so, any input that anyone has who either had to make this same decision or from people who attend these schools would really be great. Thanks!

I am sure sure you will be happy either way you choose, but being a UHS student, I'll throw in a plug for UHS.

The first two years are very strong. Most people don't realize it at the time, but you get really good board preparation. We have a lot of excellent faculty members.

There are quite a few good sites to do your clinical years. I am at UMDNJ, which has overall been a very good experience. We lost this site for the class behind me, but I have heard we are in the process of getting it back for the following year.

You are not tied down to your third year site. You are free to do your fourth rotations virtually anywhere. This is a big advantage in researching other programs that interest you.

Kansas City is a great town. There is a lot to do there. Between the Plaza, bar scene, pro sports (Chiefs and Royals games are fun even when they're not winning), there's a lot of fun stuff.

Hope this helps. Good luck wherever you decide to attend.

Dr. Evil,

What do you mean about not being tied down to your 3rd year site? Do you have to find your own sites for the 4th year? Or is it in regards to electives? Any insight would be great 🙂 . Thank you

Flea girl,

I interviewed at both UHS and DMU and chose DMU. Both schools had things I liked and disliked. I liked the curriculum at UHS a little better, but I liked the facilities and neighborhood at DMU better. Those are just a few, amongst other things that went into my decision. I dont want to go too much more into detail for fear of alienating anyone, but overall I just got a better feel at DMU than UHS. Although, Im sure I would have been just fine going to UHS as well. My best advice is go with your gut feeling that you had after you interviewed at each place and Im sure you will choose what is best for you. Either way, I dont think you can make a "wrong" decision, both are good schools. Congrats on your acceptances.

HEy,

I too interviewd at both schools. I feel that both schools are pretty good in terms of education. It comes down to where you think you'll be most happy at.

For me, I had a better feeling about UHS but have decided to elect to go to my state school instead.
