UIC Dental School Waitlist/alternate list for 2009 cycle

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I received a letter yesterday saying that I'm on the alternate list for UIC. I'm also out-of-state. I don't know any more details. I'm very curious about how many people are on it.

all i know so far is that the out of state list and in-state wait lists are separate, and the in state has about 30 people. i have heard that out of state has quite a bit a movement based on past trends, but i am more interested at this point in learning the actual number of people on the out of state list. would everyone that interviewed but did not get accepted have made it on to the waitlist, or was it trimmed further, what do you guys think?

Has any one heard back about being on the in state alternate list? Also when did everyone who has been placed on the alternate list (in state or out of state) have their interview?

I was interviewed on March 18 and found out I was waitlisted on April 1. By the way, I am considered out-of-state.

I'm on the in-state wait list as well! I interviewed mid-January and didn't hear back until.... end of March??? 😡 Waiting sucked... But yeah, I also heard that there are ~30 people on the wait-list.

swlu2, hang in there, you have a pretty good stats to get into UIC...at lesat you got into one of the two in-state d-school.

I got an email today from Braulia saying my application is "on hold" and they will have a decision by early June. I interviewed end of March and am in state.

I got the same e-mail. What exactly does "on hold" mean? Are they behind in making decisions or waiting to see if more spots open up or what?

Got the same e-mail from Braulia today saying my application is on hold and a final decision hasn't been made yet. Have any of the elder members seen this in years past / know what it might mean?

I'm not really sure, but from what I've read on here and heard from friends, they are keeping a lot of people on hold rather than rejecting them right away. I have also heard that the waitlist (or alternate list..whatever they are calling it) isn't ranked this year? I really have no idea if any of this is true though, just piecing together what I've heard. Honestly, I'm just happy I still have a chance at UIC, even if it's the tiniest one.

Has anybody else heard anything about this 'on hold' business? Or have a clue on how the wait/alternate lists work this year?

braulia told us, they do have a ranking system, but that if you call up to find out where you are on the list, she would not divulge that information.

I talked to Braulia today. Basically she just said on hold means they have not made a decision on whether they want to accept, waitlist, or reject you. She also said the class is full at this point and that since the waitlist has already been formed the only place the people on hold can even really be moved is onto the waitlist.

Any news? I was told the last day to be moved off the waitlist is Aug. 26.
