Did anyone else receive that email from UIC yesterday referring to the pre-pharmacy academic worksheets? I guess folks have been sending in their supplementals without their fall 2005 grades on them and they needed to generate an email to all candidates that this is not the proper procedure.

Are there any other UIC hopefuls on this board?

Chris

yup, and i'm an offender 😛 (can't help it if UIC was the only one of 10 schools w/ that stipulation).

My friend applied to UIC 3 years ago and they had this crazy stipulation that all materials, including sealed transcripts, needed to be in a certain envelope. Well, she had the schools she attended send the transcripts independently (not included in the specified envelope) and she received a letter stating that her application was incomplete and she would therefore not be considered for admission. She called and they said they hadn't received her transcripts and she was like that's funny because I have the signed receipts here. So the lady went to check and she said that since they weren't in the specified envelope it's just the same as not having sent them. My friend was a little upset and asked to talk to someone about the issue but by the time the issue was resolved she was rejected because the whole process had taken such a long time.

UIC is a little over the top in this regard!

Yeah I got that email too. It kinda pissed me off because it was written in the worst way possible. It's funny how certain personal interactions with various pharmacy schools can impact your feelings about the school. I applied to UIC as one of my long shot schools. I wasn't really expecting to get in there, but after that email I almost could care less if I do or not. So far every encounter I have had with the admissions staff at UIC has been terrible. They really are extremely rude. On the other hand, both the University of Cincinnati and Samford have been very pleasant to work with. The admissions secretaries are excellent and more than willing to explain things and help you out. The people make all the difference, and to me, it counts for a hell of a lot...

I'll be going in the fall of 08. I just finished pharmacy tech school and I start my pre-pharm course on the 17th.

I agree!! I had bad luck every time I spoke to anyone on the phone, EXCEPT for Ms. Fleming, whom I accidentally thought was a man... 😛 But yeah, I see what you mean about rudeness influencing the way you feel about the school. It's tough to separate the two. I have a friend who is a P2, though, and she is very happy there...

Well thats good to know. Maybe UIC just needs to get rid of all of the old hags that answer the phones then....
