Dear colleagues,
I was just wondering how to get TOEFL score up to 100. I am stuck at 86.. How you guys do it so well? How many times you take TOEFL? I know UIC require 81 and above, but their average score is 100. I am just frustrated with this test, took it 4 times within five years. I have NBDE part 1 and 2; 5 years of dental assistant experience in various fields of dentistry, planing on doing some community service as well, but stuck with TOEFL. Please, enlighten, good people!
Thanks
J

Don't worry about the low toefl score. It depends on which area are you weak. Try to read more. For listening watch American shows which can also help you. For speaking section try to speak slowly and clearly and trust me it will make difference. For writing try to refer book whichever you use and read the essay samples about construction of essay. You will mostly get essay to state your opinion. In first paragraph have you thesis statement. Second paragraph should have examples of why you are supporting that idea. Also write one disadvantage too but phrase a sentence in such a way that advantages outweighs the disadvantages. Third paragraph should have conclusion and revisit your thesis statement. I hope this helps.

I am sooo grateful for your responses. I watch shows, read american academic books and so on and so forth. I feel like I freak out on the actual test day.. That might be a problem. I did notefull.com I really liked their strategies. But still I score so low.. I will try to use your advise about advantages and disadvantages.
Is it true that it is better to fly and take TOEFL in my country (I'm from Lithuania) instead of trying hard here. I read that they compare your test results with local students?

I am a current UIC student. Don't worry too much about Your TOEFL score. There are a lot of people in my class that did not score up to 100 including me, and I was accepted last year in the very first batch of acceptance sent. If you have a lot of dental assistant experience and good letters of recommendations from U.S dentists, you will get an interview.

How much did you score? Do you mind to share your stats?

Hi I was also in the same situation like you ,you need scores above 95 I believe to get an interview call .It doesn't matter where ever you take the Toefl its an internet based test so it is not going to make any difference wherever you take .I always did bad at the reading section so I took an online course of toefl to improve and I did ,I think his name is Jim Corey he teaches you on Skype ,he is a toefl instructor ,please google ,All the best

Practice, practice and practice is the key for TOEFL. If your problem is freaking out on test day then it means even more practice to a point where it is a cake walk for you.

Where is your weakest point? Reading, writing, speaking or listening? Depending on your feedback I can provide you guidance.
