anyone know what this James Scholar program is at UIC, what it involves, how you get in, etc? from what i gather from web site, you need to be "invited" by the school to be in the program. when does this invitation come? anyone been invited yet?

thanks!

Well don't know too much about the program except that i believe you can only get in when you are accepted to their undergrad. Not too sure about this one.

I believe once in the James Scholar program you must complete a certain number of Honors courses and may also involve writing something like a thesis before you graduate perhaps but I could be wrong.

What I do know for sure, and perhaps the MOST important benefit of being a James scholar is that you get priority registration before just about everyone else. That means that you will hardly ever have any trouble scheduling the classes you want as you will get first pick (even before upper-classmen). This is a big deal as many students have difficulty getting into classes they need; some well into their senior year. It's a huge perk. Other than that though, I don't know too much. I suggest you go to www.uiuc.edu and check out Urbana-Champaign's James Scholar program because I think they might have more info on it.

sorry, to clarify im talking about for the program for medical students, not for the undergraduate school. although thats good to know thought that it exists for undergrads as well. maybe they have more info...
