Did you get into their GPPA program (guaranteed admissions) or biology with pre-pharmacy.

do you have any information about UIC pre-pharmacy or pharmacy?
Thank You..

What would u like to know? I'm UIC pre-pharm (kinesiology major) and applying to pharmacy schools right now.

-For classes you need to take: http://tigger.uic.edu/htbin/codewra...ospective_students/prepharmacy_coursework.php
http://www.uic.edu/ucat/catalog/LAPREPROF.shtml#k

-For the pre-pharmacy club (which i think is a really good club to join once you start UIC. It really helps you learn more about pharmacy school and what you need to get in):
http://www2.uic.edu/stud_orgs/prof/prepharm/

-You need to have a good GPA, good letters of rec, PCAT score has to be a double digit (yup, thats what 2 pple on admissions told me), volunteer and extracurriculars, and some type of pharm experience (to show that you're interested)

I'm not in pharm school yet so I dont know how much help i can be...but lemme know what other specific questions you have.

Which dorm has most of pre-pharmacy students?
(and which dorm is the "nicest" in general?)
I'm worried that I'm going to do bad on chemistry placement test..
(I'm in AP bio now.. and I haven't done chemistry in 2 years..)
How should I prepare for it?
Is it easy to find a job or volunteer opportunity (at pharmacy)?
Is there a facebook group or something similar that I can join?
Should I take pharmacy technician test over the summer?
(I'm not ready for it at all.. but I could take a class at community college and prepare for it..)

Thank you so much for your help..
I think I asked too many questions at once.. sorry 😳

-I dont dorm, but i know that they dont have specific dorms for pre-pharm students.
-When i took the placement exam 4 years ago, it was pretty simple. It was like basic math and then a few chemistry questions. It may have changed since i took it. I think MOST students are placed into Gen Chem I. I dont think students typically study for the exam, but if u want to I guess you can go through your old chemistry textbook to study.
-Finding a pharm tech job might be hard, but u should still try to look for one or volunteer where ever you can. If not, try to shadow some pharmacists.
-I looked at the UIC pre-pharm facebook group and it doesnt look like many pple actually update it.
-And taking the pharm tech exam will look good, but u dont have to rush into it. Although jobs might want you more if u are certified rather than licensed (i dont have a pharm tech job but i know experience will help you get into pharm school)

Illinois law requires that pharm techs pass the PTCE within 2 years of receiving the pharm tech license.
-There are no specific floors for pre-pharm students. You should apply for housing ASAP.
-When I took Chemistry placement exam back in the winter of 2003, it was mostly a math exam.

If you can avoid taking physics at UIC.

Hi im a senior in high school wanting to apply to UIC as a Chemistry BS major and pre-pharmacy.

I was just confused how exactly that worked? majoring in Chem and pre-pharmacy?

and can you help me out if i can get accepted?

GPA(unweighted): 3.4
ACT: 33
SAT2 Chem: 680
SAT2 Math: 780

Sorry for so many questions but i really need to know fast. x) one last question is the application process.

I was looking at the application online for fall 2012, and i couldn't find anywhere to put my test scores in such as the ACT, SAT2, or even my high school GPA and extra curricular activities. Where do i put all that information?

Thank you so much!!

I am transfering to UIC from a CC. This fall will be my first semester. I would say with your grades and ACT score, you should get into UIC pretty easily. You can apply for the GPPA http://www.uic.edu/depts/oaa/spec_prog/gppa/ but I am not sure what their grade requirements are.

I can't help with your question about where to put your tests scores, sorry 🙁

If you want to major in Chemistry and do pre-pharm it won't be too bad because Chem and pre-pharm require a lot of the same courses. This site will help show you what pre-pharm you need: http://128.248.232.63/pharmacy/prePharmacyGuide/prePharmacyGuide_display.asp?schoolID=65

Here are the required courses for majoring in Chem: http://www.uic.edu/ucat/catalog/LACHEMISTRY.shtml#b

I hope this helps you! I don't know too much about going to UIC yet, but I've been through the application process and have looked into every little detail about UIC/pre-pharm/pharm! 🙂
