Hey guys,
I have an interview coming up at UIC and I have been reviewing the material on the website, but I haven't found much about student research opportunities/electives/etc. Does anyone have any idea what sort of opportunities are available outside of the classroom? Thanks!

They have a formal MSTP program for those who want real hands-on research-oriented education. They also have a Medical Scholars Program at the Champaign-Urbana campus that allows students to complete an MD and a Ph.D. in whatever discipline they desire (typically a social science). The final research program they told us about was the James Scholar program. You have to be nominated by a faculty member, but you conduct research with an advisor, present it, etc. You also get priority in selecting rotation sites/scheduling. Good luck!
