pardon the barge from a pre-med but i have questions that could best be answered by those here.

i am looking at this program and am highly interested in it but have some questions about it.

specifically, what are they considering urban? is it just chicago or would any of the other suburban areas which have a large population qualify??

also is there a specific year commitment to an urban area? (i am thinking if you were to be offered a job in a more suburban setting)

does anyone know if it offers any advantage/disadvatage in admission??

the UMed program is mainly for working with low-income & underserved patients. Their students will rotate at sites that service these patients. I don't think many suburban areas would qualify, but I'm not entirely certain. A good example of a UMed site is the West side VA near UIC.

In regards to adv/disadv for admission, you have to first be admitted in order to be considered for UMed.

Best of luck to you! :luck:
