Does anyone know when waitlisted people will hear back? Up to how long can the wait be?[/QUOT]

UIC Class of 2010 is full according to what Ann Shorrock told me, committee is meeting on April 10 to rank those in waiting list including myself. I don't believe in waiting list and I hate it bc they can take u until august and then nothing happens!

I can't imagine the UIC waitlist moves at all. They only take in-state residents, so it's doubtful anyone will give up their seat to attend a private or other state school to spend more on $ on tuition.

I'm applying to UIC this cycle. If you don't mind, could you tell me your stats and if you are an in state student or not? Thanks.

Thanks for replying. Those are good stats. Higher than what UIC has on their site. Are you an instate student?

I am not on the waitlist, but did get accepted to their post bacc. program. When I interviewed, I was told that my GPA was too low for admittance, but my DAT scores were ok. I have an Overall 3.0 and Science 2.9. PAT 19 TS 17 AA 17 and I am also a resident of IL. I knew I had a very slim chance at getting in without improving my GPA, but was thrilled to be given a chance in their post bacc program. I know that their class is close to being filled (just waiting for some deposits to come in) and I also know that some people that interviewed with me for the post bacc will be attending other schools. I do not know if they will conduct other interviews for the program, but it might be worth a try to call admissions and ask about it. FWIW I have heard that it is must as hard to get into their dental school as it is their med school this cycle. Same goes for SIU as well. Good luck and let me know if I can be of any help.

Yes, I am instate, and also an undergrad at UIC. It is very competitive this year; 5 people I know who were also accepted had GPA's above 3.9, and 20's across the board on their DATs.

Yes, you are right. I finally spoke to someone in admissions and you can actually called April 11th to find out how you rank on the list. They also said that you can be on that list until the day school starts ! 😡

Does anyone know typically on avg how many actually convert from the waitlist status?

Congrats! I have Overall 3.6, Science 3.8, 18/18/19, IL resident, and I got flat-out rejected 2 years in a row! Not even an interview invite.

Not to worry...I received an acceptance from my #1 school, but in-state tuition would be nice.

Wow, you guys are really scaring me! The stats info on their website must really be inaccurate. Or, do other factors matter more than DAT or gpa?

I personnally think that where you go to school and other experiences help you get into UIC. My stats are not anywhere near as high as the previous posted (you can message me to get them). And I also didn't get my app to them until sometime in September.

I think they look for a very diverse dental class and with so few seats it is difficult to get a place. So in addition to just some dumb luck I think you need to show that you are a well rounded person. If you have any specific questions for me feel free to PM me.

UIC waitlist does not move much, but it does move. If you are top 5 on the waitlist, you have a good chance of getting in. In my case, I was 15 and I didnt make the cut. UIC is an extremely hard school to get into, the best advice I can give, apply early as hell to UIC!

Hi, congratulations on getting into thier post-bac program!! Those are pretty competitive as well. If you don't mind me asking, What kinds of questions do they ask you at a post-bac interview?

I had two 20 min. interviews. One was with Ann and she basically went through a list of questions. (10) Why UIC? What do you do in free time? What do you do when you find yourself stressed out? There were obviously more, but I can't recall them. My second interview was with Dr. Pendleton. He didn't have a sheet, but did sit right next to me when he asked me questions. (It was kinda intimidating at first, but I got more comfortable by the end). He asked if I planned to specialize? Why I didn't go to Marquette (my undergrad) for dental school? The hardest question was probably: Why didn't you get into UIC dental school this year and instead you are interviewing for the Post Bacc?
I was told that the interview is the same for the incoming class as well. I know that next year I won't have to interview once I make it through the program. I feel fortunate enough to get into the program bc I know how competitive it was this year and my GPA is pretty low. If you have any other questions let me know. Are you going to UIC next year?

Thanks for your input. i guess i should have clarified myself. Im not attending UIC next year but i have a dental postbac interview monday and i just wanted to get a feel of what to expect. I wasn't sure what i would be asked at a postbac interview outside of "why dentistry?" etc, etc so asked, thanks tho u've cleared it up for me. (oh, i can see how having ur interviewer sit right next to u can be intimidating at first, lol, kinda up close and personal huh.) u must have done a great job cuz your in, Congratulations again!!! 🙂

Thanks,
Keep me posted on how it goes. I am sure you will do fine. The nice thing about most post bacc programs is that you are given preference, if not guaranteed admittance (UIC) for the next cycle. Just treat it like you would if it was for acceptance this year. Good luck!

Which program are you interviewing with?

Thanks, i'll need it. 🙂 Im interveiwing with Baylor down here in Texas. With them, if you make at least an 18 on the DAT and keep at least a 3.25 gpa in your course work you're given acceptance 'automatically' for the next cycle. sigh----hope that becomes my reality. Take care.

I was completely unaware of the fact that UIC had a post-bac program. I haven't seen such info on their website. What does this program entail?

Does anyone know if anyone has been accepted off the waitlist this cycle or if the class is still full?

Heyy!! Would you be able to tell me more about the program and where I would be able to find more information.

Any news on the UIC wailist this cycle?
Does anybody know if anyone has been admitted off the waitlist and usually how many people drop out during the summer months?

Are you instate or an out-of-state applicant??? Thanks! 😀

Does anyone know if UIC continues to take people off their waitlist until classes start? Also, has there been anybody accepted off the wailist recently - about how many people ussually get into UIC off the waitlist?

Hello...
I am number 3 on the out-of-state waitlist. I think we should know by Aug if we are in or not (hopefully in). What numbe are you? Are you an in-state or out-of-state? 😕
Good Luck
