Hey, to any of you currently at or already graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, what are the easiest bio labs to take?? I already have AP credit for a year of bio, but I don't get any credit for bio LAB. So I need to take a year of some sort of lab, and I'm trying to find the easiest ones.....I was going to sign up for genetics and genetics lab in addition to my second semester of general chem and lab next semester.....but i heard genetics is reeally hard. Any ideas?? Thanks.

Medical School isnt hard, so dont bother with genetics or biochem. Go with earth science

You better stick to non-major bio labs or Integrative biology courses. Most of the MCB classes are harder. Not to say that you can't get an A. . . but they are by no means "easy."

you cant be serious with this question, each class has it own designated required lab to take, so like gen bio I you would take the gen bio I lab...there are no easy or hard for you to choose from, you take what your told and thats it..lol, didnt your counselor explain that to you?

she's asking what is an easy bio class. she doesn't have to take gen bio and unless you've never taken an upper level bio class you'd know some are easy and some aren't

What is the OP's major? Its hard to make a suggestion without this info. if she's a non-science major then she should stick to IB courses. If she is MCB then she will have to take hard biology courses anyways.

every bio lab is usually linked with a bio class, unless im totally missing something here.....

even if she has the AP credit, she has to still take the pre-reqs which include no easy labs, however, if she would like to take any easy elective that has an easy lab...there are various of classes like mcb 100 or ib 100/101 which have easy worthless labs, however, there is no point in taking those classes because 1. they wont apply toward her progress for degree 2. no medical school would take those classes seriously

its a lost cause in my opinion

you're way off on that one. the class is no where near as important as the grade.

I'm undecided in LAS right now, but I'm probably gonna end up as a Psych major. I already have credit for MCB 150 and IB 150, but I don't get the lab credits. So I still need a year's worth of bio lab. I was going to take Genetics and Genetics lab next semester with chem, but I heard it's too hard and maybe even unneccessary (?)
My advisor said all pre-meds have to or should take genetics, but now i'm hearing that's not true and that genetics isn't even a big part of the mcat at all.....so I'm really confused.

I just took an exam in MCB 250 last night, and I still feel like shooting someone.

Do what I did... take the CLC equivalent of MCB 151 and transfer it over 🙂

But in regards to your previous question, I'm also in MCB 251. I'll admit that it is tough and you have to work at it.

But it IS, in fact, a 4-year instutition level lab course, so I mean I can't say I'd expect it to be easy.
