UIWSO Question

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I got accepted with conditions early on this year and just met my conditions 2 weeks ago. I have been back to SA looking for housing twice since then. My dad and auncle are ODs so i know a bit about the process.
The school and classmates have been great so far and all my questions have been answered. I am not sure where you get your information and being negavtive.

I met at least 4 faculty ODs that are teaching first year courses on my interview day, and on another visit I met a local private practice OD who teaches at the school. The school has hired a lot of teachers but most are involved in years 2, 3 and 4. As my dad said no one is going to hire ODs who are scheduled to teach in the clinic when only first year classes are taught. My uncle spoke to an assistant dean 2 weeks ago about setting up what he calls Extern site. My uncle was very impressed with the quality of the opeartion and the faculty they have hired. he said that they are very selective in who they hire to teach and extern location.

You need to get yourself a map. The first optometry building is the Med. center and has been there for 15 years. when I was in SA 6 weeks ago, they were updating the wirelesss and security systems. From what i understand the first clinic will be renovated in a few months and the second clinic in a year or so. My dad said you need 3rd and 4th year interns to work in the clinic. That will be our class in 2 and 3 years time.

I remember the second clinic was in a rough part of town a block from a large nursing/commucity collge.

I remember reading on of your posts that you are from ferris, why aren't you attending ferris. It seems that being in our class isn't for you. You don't know what U r talking about.

i didn't get any negative feelings from them. i thought that curriculum was very well. i asked them about it at the interview and they emailed it to me next day. i loved the school and all the people i met there. if you want the curriculum, let me know. i got waitlisted and if i get in, i would definitely go. i loved everything about the school.

I too am waitlisted, however the school faculty are very prompt with any questions you may have. I was emailed the curriculum the day following my interview. I had a fantastic experience there, and am a bit awestruck that you had some negative feelings about the program after the Q&A and the interview process. I received a campus tour of the main campus, and was presented with maps to the location of the clinic, although my stay in SA was limited I enjoyed what I saw.

Thanks so much to all who replied. I was just concerned, but seeing so many people who think it's going to be a wonderful program makes me realize I must have just been confused. I applied to 2 schools and since the first interview was much different than the second, maybe that's why I was worried about the program at UIW. This is what I wanted to hear; I'm glad to be reassured by so many people that this optometry school is on the right track! 🙂
