Hi I have read a couple threads and dont really understand what I need to do.

Basically I wont to practice pharmacy in USA, I have just got my Green Card Allowing me to live in USA. I haven't Started my pharmacy course. I was wondering Is it better to complete my course in the UK and then move? Or transfer after my first year? Also how do I go about organising this, I have tired contacting my university they said they cant help and still awaiting replies from the Pharmacy Association been about a week. Please help, All I would like to know the time before I can practice, what I need to do and any important information that I may need to know.

Thank You!

Hi transfertousa,
Just to let you know we are on the same boat.
I am a pharmacy student like yourself and moving to US soon. I don't know what to do. It would be great if someone could help us in this situation.
Please let me know if you find anything in this regard.

Hello transfertousa and mrlnpl,

I have gone through a real calvary trying to get licensed here, after having studied abroad; my advise is if you plan on practice inthe USA transfer credits and study here, if you are already a graduate then be prepared for some long and winding road. If bureaucracy wherever you studied at is not an issue you can have it a bit easier, and you can certainly work as technicians in the meantime, thus being able to know about laws and so. I f you want to know more in detail PM. Good luck

Hey there. I'm also in the same boat (A student in a MPHARM pharmacy program in the UK and will be planning to go back to the USA to become registered as a pharmacist). I have a few resources regarding what is required to become a registered pharmacist in the US. I hope it helps and good luck in your endeavors. See below:

In the most basic explanation I can offer; you will need to take three exams total in the US: the FPGEE, NAPLEX, and finally the particular state's MPJE exam. See following links for details.

Links for Pharmacy Qualifications in the USA:

FPGEE http://fpgee.brighterplanet.org/

NAPLEX http://www.nabp.net/ (national association of boards of pharmacy main website)

MPJE http://www.nabp.net/

Royal pharmaceutical society of Great Britain http://www.rpsgb.org.uk/acareerinpharmacy/workinginothercountries/ (information on applying to work in the US with a UK pharmacy degree)

I forgot to mention the real catch. If you decide to undertake your pharmacy education in England then you will need to become a qualified pharmacist in the UK first (4 yrs of MPHARM degree + completion of pre-registration year). This is because the US requires that all applicants that have studied in a foreign school outside the U.S come from a 5 year pharmacy program or he/she already be a pharmacist from that country.

yeha i have seen that i have bee nedvised that completing the pharmacy degree in usa is a much better and quicker option but its just too expensive. Anyone know a university with cheap fees abot $10,000?

Hi if you are interested to live in USA I think you need to know its population status.
Population2016.com is a site to give most accurate population of USA states and its city. Visit http://population2016.com/ for more information. Thanks.
