I could some opinions of the best Ultrasound probe for certain blocks. Let's assume I have every U/S probe available on the market and the best U/S machine you can think of.

Infraclavicular block- What is your probe choice and intial depth settings for a 5'8" 300 pound patient?

Lumbar plexus Block- What is your probe choice for a 5'10" 140 pound female patient?

Popliteal Block- Probe choice for a 5'4" 320 pound Japanese Wrestler?

Thanks.

In what situation would a probe like this be better than the standard probe coupled to the best U/S machine on the market?
The new machines can do so much with the standard linear probe that it almost makes the need for a second or third probe superfluous.

I use a C60 as my secondary probe. It sucks. So big and the picture is so poor quality.
I used a L38 the other day to do an ACB catheter on a huge huge thigh. The artery was at 6cm. The C11 also has a scan depth of 10cm but its curved -- I haven't tried it yet but at UCSD they love it for ICB.

We're going to trial a C11 and revisit the L38, for use as an intermediate probe that goes deeper than an HFL38 but retains better resolution than a C60.

When are they going to design one über probe that can handle low medium and high frequencies?
