UMaryland interview; where to stay?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I stayed at the Days Inn Inner Harbor. It was a pretty nice hotel and in a nice part of town. It was pretty reasonable too--I think it was $69. And only a few blocks from the dental school.

Holiday Inn -- Inner Harbor. $99, and two blocks away from the dental school.

Hi Tropicalwind,
How did your interview go?

kenniemd,

I am not sure how my interview went. It was short and relaxing. The lady there mentioned that I can be qualified as resident if I married someone who pays tax in MD. What if I marry my wife in Ca, who will go with me and work in MD, will I be qualified the next year then? is there a limit of how much she can make? have any idea, anyone?

priceline it...i found a great deal for the inner harbor hotels using it..

Congrats on the interview from out of state! That's a tough one to get.

They straight up rejected me for interview. Would you mind if I asked when you applied?

I applied in July and took DAT in late Sep

sxr71,
when I went for my interview, I found out that we have so few applicants from maryland so that one is almost guaranteed entry after meeting the reqs, but we get a huge number of out of staters so that's where the competition really is. I would advise anyone who is dead set on attending Maryland to move here. Really.

Be careful there!

That is not necessarily true! Admissions stats fluctuate from year to year. It is not, and I repeat NOT easy to establish residency in Maryland. You have to have paid taxes, own a vehicle or house, have a MD driver's license, etc. and show proof of it.

😀

That's what I meant, i.e move the year before you plan to begin school if this is where you really want to go. As long as medical school still exists, chances of getting in are ridiculously high. Most students here are Pre-med or pre-pharm. Dentistry is not that big here and that hasn't changed in ages

DAT in early November...applied later that month..

Tropicalwind...so did you hear back from Maryland? They seem to take a long time to respond after the interview.

Nope. Haven't heard from them. When was your interview?

I interviewed at Maryland in mid February. I still haven't heard from them. I wonder if they let you know if you are wait-listed

When I interviewed in feb I got an acceptance email 2 days later.

why dont you call Ms Brown? She can probably let you know about the waitlist.

Congrats on being accepted to UMaryland. Are you going there? Or did you decide on a different school. I wonder what my chances are if I'm on the waitlist.

Thanks DMDgirl

Im going to Stony Brook. Call and See where you are on the waitlist, its better than not knowing anything.

Have you been accepted elsewhere?

Good luck

Yeah I've been accepted to Tufts and BU and still waiting to hear from UPenn. I would be happy if I got accepted to UMaryland or UPenn.
