can anybody tell me if UMass's "Please discuss any part of your application that you feel requires further explanation " is just another version of the "additional comments?" prompt? Is it optional?

I don't have any of the issues they describe in the prompt (low MCAT or gaps in my schooling), so I don't know if I should leave it blank or if that's even an option for this prompt. I have a lopsided app...significantly more research experience than clinical...but is this worth writing about or will this just hurt me more than help me?

If there's nothing that requires further explanation, I would simply say so. The gap between your research and clinical hours is what it is, and is fairly common among those who have long-term research gigs. Just my thoughts.
