Hi all,

I applied for the UMDNJ Gateway to Dentistry program for summer 2015 a few months ago, and in the email, they said they would send out acceptance/rejection letters around March 30th. I was wondering if anyone has heard back from them yet?? I reallyyyy want to do this program but I heard its highly competitive so I'm nervous! Also, does anybody have any feedback about it? I heard if you have a lot of experience

Thanks in advance!

That sucks! I have about 10 years of dental assisting experience and I'm a hygienist for about 2.5 years :/ I heard they also prefer in-state students. When did you do the program? I heard they give you an interview at the end, and as you mentioned, it significantly helps your chances of getting into the school. I hope they take students that have experience! The pre-health committee at my school is practically non-existent, so any additional advising I can get would be super helpful.

I think if you were an assistant for 10 years, the program isn't really meant for you 😛. From what I remember, it was for people who were pretty much on the border regarding the career choice.

It does make it clear on the webpage that it is for those who are currently enrolled in undergrad or most recently graduated; looking to get exposed or get involved. IMO, you're a unique candidate but also may not be the most appropriate one for this program- keep us posted.

I got rejected 🙁 I'm hoping the reason was due to my exposure in the field and not because of my grades or something. Congrats though basserpa, all the best.
