Hello everyone.
I am trying to decide where to live to attend UMDNJ.
Is it better to live outside of Newark or is there safe and affordable place near school?
Any details and recommendations would be greatly appreciated. What about parking space(extra?)

In addition, is it possible to finish Master program(30 credits) at UMDNJ in one year? Has anyone done that?

If anyone is doing Masters program at UMDNJ for dental school admission please PM me....😀

if you want convenience, try to get into the 180 west market apts. expensive, but right next to classes. a lot of students also live in society hill, pretty nice apts down the street from campus. if not those, there is a veritable bevy of nicer towns surrounding newark; montclair, bloomfield, west orange, hoboken.....take your pick. all are young towns, and range in price (more $ as you approach nyc).
yes you can finish masters in one year, but most stay for 3-4 semes.
if you have more ques, you can PM me.

Hi, I'm considering living off campus next year. I was wondering who else was looking into this option and who was looking for a roommate? I'm most interested in Jersey City, but also Hoboken (a little pricier).

I should mention that I'll be a first year student at UMDNJ

i finished the masters in a year... it's definitely possible. you just have to give up you social life... at least for one of the two semesters. (I did 18 credits in the fall and then 12 in the spring)

try looking into university centre-- it's housing for students with a gym, computer room, laundry, free utilities (i think). i live at the 180 west market street... and i'd suggest not living here. even though it's convenient, it's expensive and you'll end up paying more money for things like a gym membership and your utilities.

Yeah I wanted to live at the Centre but I don't own a car an I'm a little wary of walking that much to my apartment in Newark. I'll be staying at 180 the first year and then see how it goes from there.

all utilities are included except electricity which is about 20 bucks a month. also, parking is 100 dollars a month.

Do you guys know if there's a gym withing walking distance of campus. I'm living at 180 West Market next year...anyone living here this year know of a gym that I can walk to?
