Hi,
I'm going to be attending the open house this Friday(applying for the upcoming cycle). I called Admissions and asked what type of attire to wear to the event and they replied it should be business casual. I'm here in NYC temporarily and did not bring a lot of clothes. Has anyone been to the Open House before? If so what did you wear to the school and what were others wearing? Would arriving there with sneakers on be an absolute no-no? Thanks!

When I went to the open house (has it been a year already?) I saw lots of people there in jeans in sneakers. Also a good number of folk in business casual. I say go business casual if you can. Just looks better.

There will probably be someone there wearing sneakers, but you don't want to be that guy. When my friends and I went to the open house a couple years ago, we wore dress shirts and ties.

Even better when someone shows up in a "trust me, I'm a doctor" shirt.

It's better to overdress than underdress. With that said a full suit is not necessary for this kind of event.

Since it's business casual, just wear some nice pressed slacks, a plain colored dress shirt (white, blue, etc) with the top couple buttons unbuttoned, and leather dress shoes. A tie is not necessary IMO

Please try to dress business casual. I have attended this school for two years now (Masters Program) and I will be a first year come August. In my time here I have seen a lot of people come in with less than recommended attire and that is usually the focus of the opinion of others that may have a say in you matriculating. If they can't get passed what you are wearing then they can't accurately gauge the type of student you will be. If you can, save yourself hassle and just wear business casual
