Does anyone know anything about UMDNJ (jersey). I heard its ranking isnt that great and the facilites are kinda old.
DOes anyone know anything about it? Does anyone attend that school and how do u like it?
im really not sure if i should go there...so any advice is helpful.. 😀

All US dental schools are accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, and all have their relative strengths. A dental school well suited to one applicant might not be appropriate for another. It is recommmended that applicants investigate on their own the relative merits of the dental schools they might wish to attend.

UMDNJ has an accreditation rating of A1.

Why don't you pay a visit to see how old the facilties really are? What makes you think that you won't be adequately trained to become a dentist there? Why did you go blind into that program in the first place? Because you were worried you wouldn't do well enough to get into dental school at all or just to save a year, or both? Perhaps your real objection is to its location or perhaps it is not "prestigious" enough, or both. And did you just discover that?

You should have done your homework three years ago.

Despite my strictures, good luck to you.

Gower, what does a ranking of A1 mean?is that good or bad.
where can one find these types of rankings for other dental schools?
I am trying to decide between NYU, Tufts, and Temple--can you tell me their rankings as it would aid me in making a decision.
Thanks.

My wife's has got an admit for a MS program in dentistry from UMDNJ. Is this univ worth pursuing? Read in this page that its an 'average' school:

http://www.state.nj.us/health/hset/chapter4.htm (sec 4.3)

Man, those stats are older then hell and half do not even apply anymore. For instance:

"¶ Rankings. No formal ranking exists for dental schools. However, NJDS is one of only two schools in the nation to receive its 7-year re-accreditation from the American Dental Association (ADA) “without recommendation” (for improvement or changes) and with seven commendations."

NYU's accreditation tops that: no recomenadtions and over 40 commendations. I believe temple came through with a perfect also.

So, those stats might have been good before, but they are all pretty much outdated.

Get the new offical guide to dental schools for more current stats.

As for which school to pick, go to the cheapest one. Who gives a damn if it has odl clinics or new. I mean its nice to have new ones like ours, but it really doesn't affect your education much.
