I'm a 4th year student at Jackson Memorial. I don't know the whole story, but one resident told me that part of the reason they were on probation was not enough operative deliveries which has since been corrected. They are no longer on probation. Jackson Memorial sends out their invitations late int he game. I just got mine three days ago and that's probably early for them. They don't start interviewing until December.
You will definitely see a lot of pathology at Jackson. There's a large immigrant population. Speaking Spanish will definitely help. The residents are a mixed bunch but I don't find them to be an overall happy group. This program may be kind of malignant but I don't have a good comparison, just a gut feeling. Ask me after I'm in my intern year somewhere else.
