So I was originally scheduled for an interview tomorrow morning, February 18th, at Midwestern University, however, I am unable to attend due a flight cancellation. I was scheduled to leave from Santa Barbara to Phoenix this evening, however, our incoming plane was hit by a bird during landing resulting in a cracked windshield, thus making the plane unsafe to fly. Unfortunately, Santa Barbara has little flight traffic in the evening and I was unable to find an alternative route to Phoenix. Luckily I was able to reschedule my interview using Midwestern's website and reschedule my flight, hotel, and rental car etc.

Now I'm curious, has anybody else experienced any unfortunate stories surrounding their interviews? Thought it might be fun to share.

LOL I just read about that in the news. Wasn't it like a eagle or something? Seriously thats already like two bird+plane incidents this year. Something is amiss... But, LOL didn't think it would affect a fellow predent aswell. Isn't life so interesting?

That sucks man... I haven't experienced anything like that thank god, but I did interview there today... or technically yesterday haha.... it was really chill interview.

Something similar happened to me as I was boarding the plane to Chicago to connect to Michigan. As I was walking down the ramp to board the plane (literally), I get an automated call from Alaska telling me that my flight from Chicago to Michigan has been canceled (no reason given). After about 20 minutes of complaining and explaining my situation, they finally "found" another flight, but I had to wait at the Chicago airport for 5 hours 😡.

i would have drove to the interview. it's not that far away! haha you would have been there in 5-6 hours....crisis avoided, but instead you did what?

im hearing the "its just not meant to be" bells ringing ...

GREAT story for discussion at your interview 🙂

omg! that's gotta be frustrating. hmmm... but maybe it was a blessing in disguise? like you may have gotten an interviewer who was in a bad mood on the 18th (uh today) or you may have met some biotchy person. 😛

anywho this is a perfect post for my rant: penn interview. what a fiasco. i get on a plane in la and we're supposed to leave a 7am but by 10am we're still sitting on the freaking runway due to a "headlight issue".

to appease all of us on board, the company gives us free $10 vouchers to get food, so it takes like another hour to get everybody off/on board again, and finally we're off.

but i had a layover in atlanta, and me already being like 4 hours delayed, i missed it and had to wait from like 6pm to like 10pm for the next flight to PA. get to PA around 12:30am and finally to my hotel at like 1am. interview the next day...er... that morning. *rolls eyes* never. again.

in total: like an 8 hour delay. fun times.

Totally agree. Now you have pushed your interview back even further and risk losing your spot on the admissions list.

No flight problems for me but when I interviewed at creighton I stayed at a friends house who nicely let me use a car he hadn't been using. The next day I hop in the ride to go to the interview and the car will not start🙁 I get his neighbor to give me a jump and as I start to take off I realize the tire is flat😡. So I change the tire (in the rain with suit on) and head to the interview 2 hours late. Dr. Ayers seemed cool but I never heard from them again until a rejection yesterday. All of this after dropping about 600 bucks to go there. Huge Whammy!!

Oh believe me I thought about driving. My flight was scheduled to leave at 8PM, I needed a late flight so I could attend lab, and once I found out it was canceled I waited in line with US Airways for over an hour to try and reschedule something else for that evening. I am a Colorado resident attending school in Santa Barbara so I don't have a car out here. I thought of borrowing my girlfriend's truck but it was getting close to 10PM and the 7 hour drive would put me in Glendale around 5AM. I am a collegiate athlete and had woken up at 5AM that morning for swim practice and after much discussion with my parents, I didn't think I could make the drive safely. Nonetheless, I was very frustrated but luckily I was able to reschedule my interview for March. I realize that it is very late, as I've learned I've started this whole process late by turning my app in by September. Wish I would have found out about SDN before February but anyways I have to play with the cards I've been dealt and I am excited to visit MWU in March. Fingers crossed no more freak accidents happen to me or anyone.
