UNC dental school advice

Hello,

For those who are applying to UNC dental or have already received interviews/gotten in, can you give me some information on how competitive it is? Do they accept a lot of OOS kids? I am trying to add some more schools to my list and UNC is closer to me than most other schools. I live in VA and I do have a GPA that is lower than their averages (My GPAs are OGPA: 3.2 sGPA: 3.12) and my DATs are AA: 23 TS: 24 PAT: 20 with everything else above a 20

I was considering UNC, but their stats on their site are kind of keeping me on the fence. Do you think it's worth it to apply? And if not or if so, are there any other schools you would recommend applying to?

You can apply but they take only 8 OOS.

No. didn't apply there

If I remember correctly from orientation, the number is actually about 14 (not that it statistically makes any difference).

If you are OOS and not an elite applicant, UNC would be a waste of money.

I am OOS... 22AA, 3.95, research with a publication, shadowing, leadership, good personal statement.. and I haven't heard a word from them. Not trying to discourage, just giving my personal experience thus far. Hopefully it changes, but I'm not holding my breath on them!

Is this new for 2021? I knew the number was around ~20 OOS interviewed last year with maybe 5 acceptances.
