UNC or GWU?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
neither so that I can get an interview at UNC and off of the post-interview waitlist at GWU...😉 it ultimately depends on what you are looking for, but personally speaking, I think UNC is the better school...

I would pick UNC in a second. Part of that is based on the fact that I would prefer a smaller city and the cost of living in Chapel Hill is much lower. But I also have a great impression of UNC and feel kind of "meh" about GW.

UNC-- excellent school, less money, Chapel Hill is really nice

DC is a whole lot different then CH. It depends on what you are looking for. CH has a lot less funding for perks, GW being an expensive private school. I have toured and know people at both and they all seem to be busy and are "enjoying" school

My tour guide at CH said that they felt they didn't have all the bells and whistles as Wake Forest did (private school), yet they loved CH.

A few students at CH that I know have mentioned instances of conservative practices that they experienced, both socially and academically at the school that they saw as naive. These person considers themselves to be very liberal, FYI.

CH is more liberal then other southern towns, yet is definitely more conservative than DC.

Just reporting thru the grapevine. My opinion is below...

If it was me I'd choose UNC. My family lives in the south, and that is a big factor for me. I also tend to like living in a more rural rather than urban environment and there are small towns outside CH that I love.
