So, I took my DAT this morning and I wasn't sure whether I should be content with my scores or not.

PAT 16
QR 18
RC 18
BIO 19
GC 21
OC 21
TS 20
AA 19

Do I have to retake because of the low PAT score? I did all 10 CDP tests and felt like they didn't prepare me at all for the PAT. Keyholes, TFE and Pattern Folding seemed much harder. Also, this was my first time taking the DAT.

I'm a Senior with a 3.5cgpa and 3.4sgpa majoring in Biochemistry and would like to apply early next cycle.
I hope I can get some advice!!

You seem pretty solid to me! Of course some schools require much higher stats so it depends where you apply.

Honestly, I'd attend ANY dental school if I had the opportunity. Now, I'm definitely intending on applying to dental schools with a lower PAT average, but even all the dental schools with lower PAT averages have a PAT of 19-20.

We are in the exact same boat with DAT scores(your TS is 1 point higher but my PAT is 2 pt higher lmao). I think you will be fine. I will also be applying next year with my DAT scores.

Ya you guys are both good. Keep your hopes up cause I think you both have decent odds for sure!

PAT 31%

RC 52%

OC 90%
TS 91%
AA 85%

I thought the percentages are not reported to schools though?

I'd still like to hear from people if it's worth a shot next year. Especially from people who were in the same situation as me in previous cycles.

I was in a similar position as yourself this past cycle. 16 pat , 21 ts and 20AA with a 17 in RC. I started studying again for the DAT and then started to receive interviews. After 3 invites I decided schools obviously weren't ruling me out because of one poor PAT score. You have time to retake if you want. However, studying for the DAT again is a grueling process and I firmly believe you can get into dental school with hose scores and good application strategies. Apply broad and smart!

Also, I thought this was interesting and I would like to share that during one of my interviews my interviewer asked me to elaborate on my DAT scores. Naturally I began with defending my poor performance on the PAT, thinking I had to do something to convince them in capable. He chuckled and told me nt to worry about it- he said they can teach perceptual ability quickly to students, however you can't teach students how to study property to master rigorous science material an courses that we will be bombarded with in DS. Just an interesting perspective to think about !
