OK, let's take a group of type A people who have made it through life thus far by over preparing for everything, and let's put them into the match! Won't that be fun?!

I'm finishing up 3rd year, and looking at the last 10 months of classes of my life! Yippeee!!!! However, the uncertainty of the match and all that is beyond it is drivng both myself and husband crazy. It's not like I'm looking at a competitive specialty, so I don't have to interview in 50 states and go to some undesireable location for residency. However, it's still between two states, and not knowing seems to make doing anything productive this next year kinda pointless (other than matching and graduating that is).

How do you deal with the stress of the upcoming match?

Exactly the way you said, unfortunately. Don't make any long term plans. Don't buy or sell a house. Everything of that nature is on hold until March 18. It sucks 🙂

What stress? You apply to a few dozen programs, do your interviews, list your preferences and pack your bags.

You are either 100% committed to your journey or you waste energy worrying. It is as simple as that.

Tell me about it. I'm winding up all my plans to see what happens that day. I'd like to plan a vacation for May/June, but I don't know when internship starts, I don't know where I'll be flying out of in order to buy the plane tickets, and I want to buy a house, etc. Crazy.

Yeah, I actually have to SELL a house... unless, of course, I match at home. So I can't exactly put it on the market until I know. In this crappy real estate market. grrr
