I need help!!! I am 1/2 way through my third year and I am having a difficult time deciding on a specialty. My problem is that I like a little of everything.

I really enjoy the OR and doing procedures, but I don't think I want the lifestyle of a surgeon, as I am the type of person who likes to have a schedule so I can plan things (I know its a little OCD 😛 ).

I also really liked OB, but wanting to practice in florida, not sure it is such a good idea. I have been leaning towards EM or FP b/c they really encompass a broad spectrum of things.

Any advice on how to decide on a specialty if you like everything???

Thanks,

The good news is...you still have time to decide! You still have the other half of your third year ahead of you! Maybe you'll discover something then.

If you like everything, maybe you should think more about a specialty that has almost everything in it like internal medicine or family medicine. You'll get to do small procedures (not like a surgeon) and you can even do a little OB (maybe not in Florida) if you really want.

perhaps a "lifestyle friendlier" (I said friendlier not friendly) surgical specialty like urology/ophthalmology/ENT would work for you?
