Are romanians underrepresented in medicine? My family and I came to the US when I was 7, and my family is still very much Romanian/hasn't assimilated much. I was just wondering if we would be considered underrepresented in medicine.

Are Romanian-Americans technically underrepresented in medicine?
Probably

Does anybody in admissions actually care about your specific ethnic group being underrepresented in medicine?
Almost definitely no. You really need to read between the lines with "underrepresented in medicine"

Can you use your background in secondaries essays somehow?
Almost definitely yes

Ive rotated with several romanian attendings over this past year.

You’re not URM, though.

I am a white first generation immigrant from an Eastern European country, and I did claim URM. I wrote about my hardships and obstacles I had to overcome and tailored my statement accordingly. I am not sure as to what role did that play in my admission, but I had multiple offers to chose from so it definitely did not hurt.
