I've already posted a 'what are my chances?' thread, but I am beginning to get really stressed out with all of the MD IIs that have been going out recently. I have all my secondaries in (need to update MDApps), but I am still waiting for my prehealth committee to submit my packet to AMCAS/schools. It is taking forever, and they are saying it will be sometime in Sept. (maybe towards the end) before they get to mine. I go to UCF, and I turned it in late because I was waiting to get off of a wait list from last year. Anyway, I am just looking for some reassurance from someone with similar stats or someone who knows of somebody with similar stats that has gotten IIs later on in the cycle. I feel like the longer it takes them to send in my packet, the worse my chances get. I have no control over any of this, and it is driving me crazy. Any input would be great. Thanks ahead of time.

My stats, ECs, etc. are in my signature and MDApps.

My main concern is my low VR score and the tardiness of my LORs due to my pre-health committee.

You should stop basing your timeline off how others are doing on SDN. In reality, many people are in your situation. Many of my friends at UCLA are still waiting on letters to be sent, etc as well. Most people do not have everything neatly lined up. If you check MdApps there are people who submit in September and still get many acceptances. It is not optimal to be submitting this late, but it is still very possible and there is nothing you can do about it now anyway.

Exactly, remember that SDN is just full of gunners. Letters make your secondary complete, but are not used until the final review before interview invites and sometimes even after interviews. Don't worry if you are not complete until next month.

Thank you both for the responses. Im trying my hardest to just relax, but it is soo hard. I am a very average applicant, and I need all the help I can get.

It's the middle of August. Many schools gave out interview invites only to the first pool of secondaries they got, which is essentially the people verified before June 15. The entire process is barely beginning so take it easy. Also, for the sake of reality, you did apply to a handful of the most competitive medical schools on the planet -- I wouldn't be freaking out if they aren't blasting secondaries/interviews at you, regardless of the status of your letters. As for the other schools on your list, give them time to consider you and get back. You're well within the time frame of the rat race.

As another underdog (who still hasn't taken her MCAT), I'll be rooting for you!

I'm not even complete at any of the schools I've applied to, so I'm not upset about not getting II's (much less secondaries since I have received all of them except Howard). I'm upset that my pre-medical committee is taking so long to send out my LORs.

I know you are looking at my MDApps by referring to the most competitive medical schools on the planet, but honestly, I am only applying to Harvard, Emory, Duke, JHU, Dartmouth and Albert Einstein because the MD I have been shadowing paid for all of my secondaries. He is a Harvard graduate, and he insisted that I apply to top-tier schools regardless of my perceived chances. However, I am concerned about my chances at my state schools (FL) and others where I have a legitimate chance.

I appreciate the wisdom regarding my time frame regarding the other schools though; comments like that are why I posted this thread in the first place.

Wish you the best! Like others have said, it's quite frankly out of your hands.

Rooting for you, too. I'm not too far removed from your shoes, slightly better mcat and gpa, but just have the bare bones EC. Having school back in session has allowed me to have something else to worry about. Hang in there! Enjoy it as much as you can - even if it's a second dose. It'll fly by.
