I posted this in the pre-MD forum, hope it is okay I ask the same thing here, only regarding DO schools: "Hey guys

I´m an American/Norwegian (dual citizen) student currently working on my bachelors degree in petroleum engineering at the university of Stavanger, in Norway. But I am considering trying to get into medicine in the US. I realize that amcas does not deal with foreign bachelor degrees, so I am wondering what options I have? Would I be eligible if I took the the general prerequisites at a U.S school + a masters degree or some kind of postbac program(also in the US)?

Thank you for any help!"

I am not so familiar with the application process for DO schools, and would very much appreciate any input on how I can become an eligible candidate for DO schools.

Thank you!

Being a dual citizen, I would think you would be fine if you took general pre-reqs here, but I would double check that before you decide to spend the time and money doing so. You might be okay with whatever education you get in Norway. I'm not sure that you'll find a lot of help on here with this question- I haven't noticed a lot of international students posting at least. Try contacting all of the schools you're interested in and see what their policies are regarding international education background. Good luck!

as a heads up....
Coming from a university abroad you most likely will have to enlist a service approved by the application service AACOMAS to look over your international transcripts.
There is some good information in the FAQ's on the application website.
