Undergrad Internships?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Um...all I can really suggest is to ask either a psych faculty member or an undergrad advisor if you have one?

Might be research, might be clinical, might be I/O, might be something else entirely. No way for us to even know that, let alone specific topics.

True no one here is going to know exactly what i would be doing if i signed up for an internship but i am sure that someone could at least ball park what to expect. I would imagine it would be a very narrow set of options for someone who doesn't even have a bachelor's degree, working in an internship.

Not sure how your school works, but I'm signed up for an internship next semester through mine and I'll be working at the psychiatric hospital tutoring patients.

Is there any way you can talk with other students who have gone through the internship program at your school? There's probably a wide variety of experiences there but at least then you can get a solid idea of what some of the options are.

I agree it will vary greatly, but in my experience, undergrad internships can still be fairly varied. I am currently finishing my undergrad clinical/psych practicum and I've been working at a residential treatment facility, helping the staff with their on-campus residential boarding school. I basically do the job of a teaching assistant.
Some of my peers are working in other programs such as pregnancy clinics, men's and women's homes, teen suicide hotlines, hospital psych wards, special education classrooms, and so on.
I would suggest you already be looking into connections to mental health facilities in your area and talking with your supervisor, as once the semester starts, you need to have a placement ASAP.
