Hi, I'm new to this forum but I was wondering if there is a specific list of classes one must take before applying to psyd/phd programs? so far i've completed abnormal, personality, social, developmental, and 2 levels of statistics. but somebody told me that learning is needed, as well? how can I be sure lol any help? thanks!

I've never heard of learning being a required course, but if you want to be sure, check the websites of some grad programs you may want to apply to. I would say that research methods would be a must, so you should try to take that ASAP.

The Insider's Guide has this info.

This.

If you have any intention of pursuing a higher education in counseling or clinical psych this book will help you with every step of the application process.

From my personal experience, I didn't find a program where I didn't meet the class requirements. It seemed that they were mainly for people who didn't get their BA/BS in Psychology.

research methods too.

Like other posters said, check with the specific programs you are thinking of applying to.

Also remember to get experience outside of school, especially in a research lab. Try to work in at least one lab for at least a year so that you can get a good recommendation letter and be involved in longer term projects.

Agreed on getting research experience (necessary). For the sake of arguing semantics, though (and avoiding possibly confusing the OP), the research doesn't at all need to occur outside of school. Unless by "outside of school" you meant outside of required coursework, in which case we're basically saying the same thing.

I meant outside of school*work*. Sorry, should have clarified!
