Hey,

My topic area is to do with Internet use. I basically want to be looking into what kind of internet domains would be suited to different personality types when it comes to internet based therapy. I've recognized two groups (introverts vs extroverts) and I'm trying to show with my study that they would have different preferences while using the internet (group based vs one-on-one and asynchronous vs synchronous) but my supervisor and I were stuck on how to measure the "benefits".
Therefore I need your help figuring out what introverts and extroverts look to gain from therapy, or what benefits are gained from therapy in general.

Either that, or help me explore another area within my topic for a research question.

I'd really appreciate any kind of research articles pertaining to my topic area, or any other assistance you guys could provide.

Thanks!

I'm confused....what are you going to be providing therapy for? That makes a huge difference in what benefits of therapy you would be measuring. Are you going to recruit people who have depression? Anxiety? Substance Use Disorders?

excuse me, but i don't understand how you expect to gain the information your searching for on this forum... aren't you supposed to be looking into literature on pubmed or psycinfo and stuff?

Here are a few suggestions to get you looking in the right direction, though you still need to do all of the leg work:

1. Doing a literature search is best.
2. You'd need to find out WHAT people value most from therapy.
3. Then you'd need to see if there are any studies out there on introverts v. extroverts and what they value in general.
4. You'd also need to know about what has been out there already with online therapy.
5. THEN you design a study that would ask questions about online therapy, differentiating between introvert v. extrovert people, etc.
6. Crunching the numbers and making sense of the data is the last part.
