I'm glad I have an extra few days to ask questions! 😀

Here's one:
Sophomore year of college, I took a UGS-H (honors undergrad research seminar). The focus was the vaccine "debate."

It was pass/fail, and I passed. I wrote about the implications of mandatory vaccine laws in combination with new anti-addiction vaccines that are coming out.

It was just phone calls and googling. It was not published. Does this count as research? Should I mention it in my application? Thanks! 🙂

I don't see any major harm in listing it, but just doing a literature review and writing a paper for a class doesn't really count as research IMO

No, I would definitely not consider this research. Especially because it was part of a class.

If you really want to stretch the definition and put it down as research, adcoms will compare this to students that had serious research experiences with presentations and pubs and it will not get you anywhere.

ftfy.

Quick rule about research experience: If it was for a class assignment, it doesn't count.

I agree that you will be laughed at and it will be seen very negatively as it looks like you're reaching just to check off some box.
